Michael Twomey qualified in 1992. He is a commercial and corporate law solicitor and is widely recognised as a leading course designer and presenter with over 20 years’ experience in legal education and professional training. His clients include leading UK and international law firms, Government departments, multi-national companies, educational and training organisations and professional bodies such as the Law Society of England and Wales. He began his legal career as a corporate and commercial lawyer at Slaughter and May before joining the University of Law, London, where he became Head of Acquisitions and editor of Acquisitions and Group Structures (Jordans). Michael has acted as a consultant for a number of universities and regularly publishes articles on contract, commercial and corporate law. With expertise extending to e-learning and online training, Michael was recently engaged by Thomson Reuters to advise on the design of an online legal skills development and certificate programme for legal professionals.
Malcolm Dowden qualified in 1994. He is an experienced solicitor and legal training provider with a strong background in designing and delivering acclaimed courses in law firm management, commercial, real estate and environmental law. Malcolm has extensive practical experience and has, throughout his legal career, been involved in publishing articles and designing and delivering training programmes, seminars and individual sessions. He delivers training at all levels and is a regular speaker at conferences in the UK and abroad. Malcolm combines his role as a course designer and trainer with ongoing consultancy work for the Commercial, Telecoms Media & Technology, Real Estate and Construction teams at a leading national UK law firm. Regular involvement with fee earning work across jurisdictions plays a significant part in ensuring that case studies and other materials designed for legal training are practical, up to date and extremely realistic.
